Our commitment

Everyone should be able to use this website, including people who browse with a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, need larger text, or prefer reduced motion. We have built nlcredding.org with that in mind, and we will keep working at it.

The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This is the standard most widely used to judge whether a website is accessible.

What we have done

• Every page uses proper headings and landmarks, so a screen reader can navigate the structure
• A "Skip to content" link appears as soon as you press Tab, letting keyboard users jump past the navigation
• Every form field has a real label, even where the label is visually hidden and the field shows placeholder text
• The whole site can be operated by keyboard, and focused elements show a clear blue outline
• Text and background colors were checked for sufficient contrast
• Images have descriptive alternative text, and decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers
• Animation is switched off automatically for anyone whose device requests reduced motion
• Pages reflow for small screens and remain usable when text is enlarged
• The "What We Believe" section uses native expandable elements that work without JavaScript

Known limitations

The map on our I'm New page is embedded from Google Maps. We do not control its contents, and it may not fully meet the standard above. The same information is available as plain text next to the map: our address is 10582 Old Oregon Trail, Redding, CA 96003, and you are always welcome to call us for directions.

If you run into a page you cannot use, we want to hear about it. Please tell us what page you were on and what happened, and we will fix it as quickly as we can. If you need information from this website in another format, ask and we will get it to you another way.
